The bi-ennial International Conference on Competition and Ownership in Passenger Transport (the "Thredbo Conferences") has completed a sixth successful iteration in Cape Town, South Africa. The conference was initiated by Dr. David Hensher of the University of Sydney (Australia), who organized the first conference, in 1989 ( Thredbo, New South Wales). Conferences typically attract approximately 100 participants from around the world, and are composed of plenary sessions and up to six workshops. Conference proceedings and workshop reports have been published through various approaches.

The 9th International Conference has been awarded to Lisbon, Portugal in 2005. Thredbo 10 (2007) will be in the Netherlands and Thredbo 11 (2009) will be in Australia. Additional details will be provided when available.
