Las Vegas has produced by far the largest increase in public transport ridership since 1990. While the population of metropolitan Las Vegas grew by 48 percent, public transport ridership grew by 486 percent --- more than nine times the rate of population growth. Las Vegas is the largest US public transport system with 100 percent of service through competitive tendering (competitive contracting).
